Vatsala Elephant Dies: Asia’s Oldest at 100+ in Panna
🌿 Vatsala: A Living Legend Who Defined Conservation
Madhya Pradesh के Panna Tiger Reserve में रहने वाली Vatsala, Asia की सबसे बुजुर्ग हाथी थी। करीब 100+ साल की उम्र में उन्होंने 8 जुलाई 2025 को अपनी आखिरी सांस ली। Forest department और wildlife lovers के लिए ये एक बहुत बड़ा नुकसान है।
Vatsala को affectionately लोग ‘Dadi Maa’ कहते थे। उन्होंने ना केवल जंगल की शांति देखी, बल्कि decades तक conservation efforts का हिस्सा भी रहीं।
🐘 A Journey from Kerala to Madhya Pradesh
Vatsala का जन्म Kerala के Nilambur forests में 1920s के आसपास हुआ था। 1971 में वो Madhya Pradesh लाई गईं और 1993 में Panna Tiger Reserve का हिस्सा बनीं।
उनके early years तो mystery में रहे, लेकिन later life में वो एक iconic matriarch के रूप में उभरीं।
❤️ Forest Officer aur Mahout ke Saath Bond
Vatsala और उनके mahout Maniram Gond के बीच का रिश्ता बहुत खास था। Blindness के बावजूद वो Maniram की आवाज़ सुनकर trunk उठाती थीं।

🌱 Conservation में भूमिका
Vatsala ने conservation के लिए decades तक काम किया:
✅ Tiger tracking में मदद की।
✅ Anti-poaching patrols में हिस्सा लिया।
✅ Calves के साथ motherly care दिखाई।
2004 में retirement के बाद भी वो Hinauta elephant camp में रहकर calves को guide करती रहीं।
🕯️ The Final Goodbye
Old age ailments के कारण recent months में Vatsala का health deteriorate हो रहा था। 8 जुलाई 2025 को, जब उन्होंने अपनी आखिरी सांस ली, Forest officers और mahouts उनके पास मौजूद थे।
Madhya Pradesh के CM ने भी tribute दिया और कहा:
“वो हमारे जंगलों की silent guardian थीं।”
